DID YOU KNOW...
When individuals with intellectual disabilities turn 22, they often experience a significant drop in access to government-funded services and supports. The transition out of the school system marks the end of guaranteed educational services, leaving many adults and their families to navigate limited Medicaid waivers, employment programs, day services, transportation, and residential supports. Often these have long wait lists and strict eligibility requirements. This creates a critical gap between the supports available during childhood and what is available in adulthood, leaving many families without the resources they need to build a safe, meaningful, and independent future.
